Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

 Ok so I got this laptop used. It's old as dirt but still has some life left in it. It's the 2016 magic plastic model.. I've been having some issues with the battery not charging when the AC adapter was plugged in. After messing with the battery drivers, bios, UEFI diagnostics, and doing hard resets I finally looked at the brick only to realize it's the wrong wattage adapter. It requires a 120w, and they gave me a 45w with it... It'll charge when turned off but won't charge when it's on. I just got a new AC adapter 120 watt for it, and the numbers all match up. It's STILL not charging when turned on. When I run higher res games it throws a 5.3 capslock code, and the screen shuts off. It won't charge above 40%. Once I got the 120w adapters I decided to try running it with the battery disconnected. White light comes on annnnnd nothing else... I'm beginning to believe it might be the 120w AC Input Cord itself on the motherboard. I pulled it out, and looked it over. I really can't tell if it's defunct or what as I don't have the tools to test it. I really dont want to junk this thing. Can I order a replacement? Should I cut my losses? I just upgraded the ram from 8g to 16g also. I really can't afford a new one, and it seems a waste to junk this thing when it performs well when it has the power to do so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. One more odd thing. It actually started charging when it was on last night for a short while. It stopped within an hour but I found it odd that it just started randomly charging while on.

@ExFoxhound

We use charger to charge battery w/o battery the charger has nothing to do. What do you expect ?

Hope that makes sense.

Regards.

From what I've read the laptop is supposed to run from the AC adapter alone. Also, that doesn't clue me in as to why it doesn't maintain charging while the unit is running. It shows (plugged in, charging) for like 5 seconds then disappears like it disconnected. I've followed every troubleshoot I could find to reset the battery. Shutdown > Disconnect battery & AC adapter 30 minutes > Reattach > Power On. Device Manager> Uninstall Battery Drivers > Restart. Run UEFI > System Check > Component Check > Battery (said Battery - OK (1). Running battery check through HP said it needs to be calibrated but it won't charge to full so how's that gonna happen? I've tried to do update Bios but it wants me to connect AC adapter or it wont allow me to do it. It can't detect it so it won't allow it. That's why I'm wondering if it's not the AC input to the laptop itself. Maybe it IS the battery but literally no test I've run has indicated it to be faulty. Why wouldn't it if it is?
