HP OmniBook X Flip 14 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 14-kc0000 (D0QZ7AV)

I purchased the Omnibook X flip 14 with OLED screen Ryzen AI  7 24GB DDR 1TB - really nice laptop.  Bought it on sale in June (great price), love it but it cannot get through windows .NET or Security updates - it will reboot but lock up on the black HP logo startup screen.  Each time I must hold down the power button several times and it has to undo the update.  It's stuck on 2026-08 .NET and security updates, they just wont go through.

other windows update have been buggy but hard reset usually gets them through, but not .NET or security update 2026-08.

Hi  @BroMoney

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out, and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your HP OmniBook X Flip overall. I understand that your laptop is consistently getting stuck at the HP logo screen whenever the August 2026 .NET Framework and Windows Security Updates attempt to install. Let’s work through this together.

To better understand the issue, could you kindly confirm a few details?

  • Are you receiving any specific Windows Update error codes?
  • Are you using any third-party antivirus or security software besides Windows Security?
  • When the system becomes stuck on the HP logo, does the Caps Lock key respond, or is the system completely unresponsive?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

1. Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

  1. Open Settings -System -Troubleshoot -Other troubleshooters.
  2. Locate Windows Update.
  3. Click Run and allow the process to complete.
  4. Restart the notebook and retry the update.

2. Verify BIOS Version

Since the system is hanging at the HP startup logo during the update process, kindly check whether a newer BIOS version is available for your specific model through HP Support Assistant or the HP Software and Driver Downloads page - https://support.hp.com/ .

Once you've had a chance to try the above steps, kindly share the requested details along with any update error codes or screenshots.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
