HP EliteBook 850 G3 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everybody,
I need to create USB key for diagnose my notebook. I've downloaded the file https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp145001-145500/sp145099.exe (HP PC Hardware Diagnostics 4-in-1 USB Key v6.2.0.0) but at the execution it give me the message "Failed to extract archive". I tried to download three times but with same result.
Can be possible the package is corrupted? What can I do to diagnose my HP Elitebook 850 G3?
Please someone can help me. Thanks.

Check to see if it has already been extracted as that will cause this error on this package, older packages appear to overwrite OK

look for the SWSetup folder on the root of C: and then the Softpaq number, delete that folder SP145099

I could not get versions 6000 or 6200 to boot , version 5300 is working fine

Received an error "loading freedos no kernel sys"

Did not resolve that one yet

Thank so much, your suggestion work fine. Now the utility are creating boot USB key.
If this version will not work Ill try older versions.

What I have found is that the softpaq does not have the FreeDOS software in it

If you extract 5300, 6000, and 6200 versions you will see that someone forgot to add that to the softpaq

Unfortunately I cannot access HP's FTP site anymore to find the latest version of the software that still includes FreeDOS?

5300 is the only version I have that still has it

The makekey.bat file just has another softpaq line for a BIOS added to it since 2012, otherwise identical

So this seems like an issue HP needs to resolve, I guess no one uses this software as 6000 has been out since 7/29/2022

Since HP support on this product is non existent, just copy all the files you need from the older version and recreate the USB key

This will work OK

Tried HP chat, but the person did not seem to understand

Thank you for additional info.
Version 6200 dont' boot with the same messages NO kernel sys.
How can I get the 5300 version with free dos allowing to boot?

Here is the last version with FreeDOS included

HP PC Diagnostics 4 in 1 key - 5.4.0.0
---------------------------------------
SoftPaq Number: SP139757
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp139501-140000/sp139757.exe

What I did was copy all of the extra files into the "field" folder of 6200 then recreate the USB, boots and works fine

The FreeDOS looks like it is from 2014

glad I could help

I did manage to email a tech at HP with the information, we shall see what happens

If someone actually reads it, HP should post a corrected version of the tool
