HP ENVY x360 - 15t-bp100 CTO

I followed the instructions on Microsoft with no results.  Then I tried the HP instructions in the article mentioned above and got to a sign in page, but it still ends up on the black screen.  I tried several of the advanced options with the same results every time, either it said it wasn't possible or took me back to the black screen.  Please advise.  Thank you.

 

With lots of views but no solutions, evidently I chose the wrong label.  I've been trying many, many suggestions with no luck for 3 days now and this is so frustrating!  I finally reached limited access to the internet yesterday after trying more suggestions, and now I need proxy information!  I'm pretty computer knowledgeable, but I don't know anything about proxies.  Please advise.  Thank you.

After several days of troubleshooting, and with your help, my laptop was finally restored.  But now I'm having a few issues, the most important is that when I try to use File History, it doesn't recognize my external hard drives (which are working fine for everything else), and for some reason it shows the size of the backup to be an outrageous amount!  I chose what I wanted to backup which is a minimal amount of the drive it does recognize available capacity.  I have a screenshot but don't see if I can attach it here.  Please advise.  Thank you.
