Whenever the computer is restarted it shows the blue screen "Your PC/device needs to be repaired" and "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed" Error code 0xc000000e.
However, if I open the bios and then immediately just hit "save and exit" the computer boots and operates with no problems, until the next restart when it does it all over again.
There was a relatively recent bios update to Insyde f.32 but I'm not sure the problem started then as the user rarely restarts. Windows update is up to date.
Seems like a bios/boot order kind of problem but don't know how to fix it. Perhaps a bios rollback?

That error message normally indicates there's a problem with windows not with the hardware.
Run diagnostics to make sure there is no hard work problem
Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on. . Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.
HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically. When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics. There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS', Expand the '+' symbol and click the DOWNLOAD button. |
If you pass memory and disk test then try booting in windows safe mode, try a startup repair and if that fails then find a restore point.
Since Windows cannot start then you need to enter Windows safe mode from outside of Windows
First read this article about safe mode. Skip down to 'Enter safe mode from outside windows. If F11 does not get you into system recovery then try turning the power on and off three or more times in a row.

Since the startup repair fails then do the restore point.
This video describes how to use a restore point. Ignore that it shows windows working. Clicking on "System restore" will bring up the list of restore points similar to what is in the below video.

If there are no restore points or the restore point is so far back that you'll lose a lot of programs then you need to bring up the device manager and see if you can fix the problem.
Find the device that has the error icon and try to fix it.
let me know what happens.
