Hello, i have an issue with this laptop

HP Pavilion Notebook
Model: 17 g126nd
Serial number (S/N): >Do not include the product serial number or any private information<

Bios version: F13
OS: Windows 10 Enrolled
SSD Harddrive has been replaced once a couple years ago.

It won't boot into Windows, after the HP Logo a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) follows with ACPI BIOS ERROR.

I've tried the following steps:

- Removed battery and unplugged charging cable and all other peripherals (USB/SD/CD).
- Held power button pushed in for 30sec.
- Put the battery back and connected charging cable.

Boots into the same BSOD with ACPI BIOS ERROR, stuck in boot loop.

Went into BIOS tried the following steps:
- Restore Security Settings to Factory Defaults, entered the code, reboot into the same BSOD with ACPI BIOS ERROR, stuck in boot loop.
- Date and time are correct in BIOS.
- Downloaded ''HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI 10.8.4.0 Rev.A'' from the HP website, ran hardware Diagnostics UEFI Memory Test and Hard Drive Check, both passed.
- Tried all the repair options, reboot into the same BSOD with ACPI BIOS ERROR, stuck in boot loop.
- Windows key + B on startup i get 2 beeps repeated 5 times and code 22, then a black screen.
- Downloaded the newest BIOS Firmware ''HP BIOS and System Firmware (W74) 01.09.01 Rev.A'' from the HP website by serial number on a different PC, followed the steps to create a USB device,
When i try to flash BIOS Firmware i get a black screen, tried all USB ports and 2 different USB sticks.

I tried to do BIOS Firmware update set UEFI Boot Order from OS Harddisk to USB Diskette on Key/USB Hard Disk.
Also tried Legacy Boot Order on USB Diskette on Key/USB Hard Disk.
USB Boot is enabled, tried Legacy Support on enabled and disabled, tried Secure Boot on enabled and disabled, tried Clear All Secure Boot Keys, Load HP Factory Default Keys, nothing works.

I've also tried to install Windows 10 22H2 from a bootable USB drive, but that also does not work.

Any advice is welcome.

Hi @Ruben_1990,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that your HP Pavilion 17 g126nd is stuck in a BSOD loop with “ACPI BIOS ERROR” after the HP logo. The HP troubleshooting flow in the provided guides recommends these actions:

  • Perform a hard reset:

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Remove it from any dock.

    3. Disconnect all external devices.

    4. Unplug the AC adapter.

    5. Disconnect/remove the battery.

    6. Then perform the hard reset procedure described in the guide.

  • Reset BIOS to default settings: restart and press F10 > Main > Restore defaults.

  • Update BIOS and drivers if you can get the system to boot or access the proper update path, since startup/blue screen issues can be related to BIOS/driver incompatibility.

  • Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI):

    • Restart the PC, press Esc, then F2

    • Test memory, hard drive/storage, and system components

  • Reseat recently added or suspected components, especially:

    • Memory

    • SSD / hard drive

  • Use Safe Mode or Startup Repair if Windows recovery options become available.

  • If the SSD was replaced and the issue began after storage or hardware changes, HP advises restoring hardware to original/known-good condition, where possible and testing with a verified working configuration.

For blue screen troubleshooting, HP specifically recommends:

  • Note the error,
  • hard reset,
  • reset BIOS defaults,
  • run HP diagnostics,
  • undo recent hardware/software changes,
  • reseat memory and storage,
  • boot in Safe Mode if possible,
  • and test with a verified working OS/configuration if needed.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
