Product: Pavilion DV5
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista

I have this older HP Pavilion dv5 from 2008 (I think) that has issues with powering on.

What happens is I press the power button and the LED lights turn on as well as the CPU fan, and after a few seconds, it just shuts off.

I really need to know what to do to resolve this. Please help!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to help you with the "No Power" issue. 

 

Please try these steps - HP PCs - Computer Does Not Start

 

If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding this. 

 

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
