Sorry no help to be provided, except details of the problem. By accident I saw a thread on a similar issue and believe that person was able to, with help, get the issue resolved. So finger's crossed here.

I did notice this problem immediately after purchasing my computer and while in warranty I sent it back, to HP, for repair as the problem could not be resolved with over the phone help. At that time I desperately needed a laptop as travelling with work so I bought another brand.

After months of back and forth with HP via emails and some infuriating phone calls where I was told that I do not know what I am talking about and that there is no issue. The rude lkady at HP Support would not accept it for return or warranty or fix it, as they said no issue and then I was with two laptops. NOW in another thread I see this issue was not a one off.

Computer goes into sleep mode, the power on/off button light and a WiFi button light and power cord supply light all flash in unison. I press/release the on/off button and no start. I press/hold/release the power button and no start. I have to remove/replace the battery then start in the normal manor. So wrong that HP could not fix the problem back them.

Is there a solution now ?

What is your dv5 ? It probably is 9 or 10 years old now and it came with Windows 7 or even Vista. Please try
