@smithg_1558,

Welcome to HP Support Community!

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the pin and check fi it helps.

  1. In the login page next to “PIN password option”.
  2. You will find “Other sign in options”, click on it will prompt you for regular password.
  3. Enter regular password and login to the computer.
  4. I suggest you to click on the Start Menu and select settings.
  5. Now select Accounts.
  6. Next select the tab Sign-in option.
  7. Under the “PIN tab” click on “ADD” option.
  8. It will prompt you for current pin password and new password, please provide new password then apply the changesrestart the computer and check if it works.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to boot the system Safe Mode with Networking and then try to change the password.

Safe mode with Networking starts Windows in safe mode and includes the network drivers, services needed to access the Internet or other computers on your network. Here's how:

1. Restart your PC. When you get to the sign-in screen, hold the Shift key down while you select Power > Restart.

2. After your PC restarts to the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot Advanced options Startup

    Settings Restart.

3. After your PC restarts, you'll see a list of options, Select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.

4. Press Windows key + I and then select Accounts Sign-in options PIN to change the password and check if

    it resolves the issue.

Note: Please restart the computer to start in normal mode.

Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
