Product: HP Pavilion dv7-4177nr

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-4177nr that my son was using for a while. He installed a bios password on it thinking he was slick but unfortunately despite his inststance he remembers the password the fact that it doesn't work is clear evidence he was wrong. So he asks "can't you just reset it?"... because yeah, it's that easy...

 

Anyway I looked around, I know if I put the wrong code in 3 times the code it generates can be used to get an unlock code but I tried to call support and they just transferred me to what they called the "out of warranty department" which is just some extended warranty service company that couldn't help me because I don't have a plan with them.

 

I've read some messages on this forum from people that got help and was wondering if anyone is able to help me out with this?
