Laptop just doesn't boot up anymore - about 2 years old, was working great and then keyboard stopped working and had to use the touch screen to power off. Took battery out and reinstalled/reconnected - power light turns on when power cord is connected, but there is no power up/sounds or display.
Help!?

Hi @mjlahm,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion 15T-EG000 laptop isn't booting up, showing no display, and not making any sounds despite the power light turning on, here are steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
- Hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning on the laptop.
Check for Power Issues:
- Ensure the power adapter is working properly. Test with another compatible adapter if possible.
- Verify that the power outlet is functioning by testing with another device.
Advanced Troubleshooting
Remove External Devices:
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Try to boot the laptop with only the power adapter connected.
Inspect for Hardware Damage:
- Open the laptop case (if comfortable and it won't void any warranties) and check for any obvious signs of damage, such as loose connections, burnt components, or swollen capacitors.
- Ensure the RAM and storage drive are securely connected.
Check Display Issues:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor using an HDMI or VGA cable to see if there's an issue with the internal display.
- If the external monitor works, the issue might be with the laptop's screen or display cable.
BIOS/UEFI Reset:
- If you can access the BIOS/UEFI, reset it to default settings.
- Restart the laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, Delete, or Esc during startup) and look for an option to reset to default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
