HP Pavilion laptop will not switch on or charge

Hi hP!

I was hoping you could help me,

I was given a laptop by a friend who said if I could fix it I could keep it,

Unfortunately though, after buying a brand new power adapter for it, it will not charge or switch on. Without the charger, the white light by the charging port flashes, and doesn't respond to the power button.

With the charger plugged in, the charging light flashes again, and when I press the power button, the power button lights up for a second or so then just goes out.

I thought it may be the battery, but it does the same thing when I remove the battery and plug in the charger.

I have autism and cannot work so I am desperate to get this working as it could prove a great lifeline for me.

I think the laptop has Win10, not sure of the CPU but I know it has 4gb of ram and a 128gb SSD. I have also tried holding the power button for 20 seconds with the battery disconnected but that didn't work either.

I am really anxious to get this working, and I am praying there is a fix for this!
