Pavilion 15-ab039cy
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’ve barely used this since purchase several years ago and last use was maybe 3-4 months ago. I tried to turn it on today and it shut down after approximately 10 seconds. During non-use (and while trying to use today), it has been plugged it to the wall. I’ve waited several hours to see if it just needed to charge, thinking that maybe it wasn’t plugged in securely for the past few months, but it still won’t stay on after I boot it up. The small light on the left side (where the wall adapter to charge plugs in) is blinking white.  Please help.

@JustCarol

Because your laptop is running Win10, that means when you turn it off it actually goes into a hybrid sleep mode -- and that uses battery power.  So over time, the battery will drain and die.  With my laptop, I have to remove the battery if I am going to store it for more than a few days, or I get a dead PC and it won't charge anymore.

The blinking light means the charger is working but if the battery is stone dead, it simply might not charge -- and without being able to start the PC and boot into Windows, there is no way to check the battery yourself.

You would need to take this into a local laptop repair facility to see if they can test the battery -- and if it's dead, if they can replace it for you (at least, as a test) to see if the PC then starts properly.
