Hi @Spinnaker7

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Since your HP Pavilion Notebook shows a BIOS recovery error and won’t boot from the hard drive or USB, the system is likely stuck in a corrupted BIOS state. Let’s walk through how to create a proper BIOS recovery USB and restore functionality.

Steps to recover BIOS on HP Pavilion Notebook

Use another PC to create a BIOS recovery USB

Run the BIOS update utility

  • Double-click the downloaded BIOS file.
  • When prompted, choose Create Recovery USB Flash Drive.
  • Insert a blank USB drive (at least 1 GB) and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the recovery media creation.

Insert the USB into the affected notebook

  • Make sure the notebook is powered off.
  • Insert the BIOS recovery USB into a USB-A port (not USB-C).
  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release all keys and wait. The screen may stay blank for up to 40 seconds before the BIOS recovery begins.

Watch for BIOS recovery progress

  • If successful, you’ll see a BIOS update screen with progress indicators.
  • Let the process complete uninterrupted.
  • Once done, the system should reboot normally.

If recovery fails again

  • Try using Windows + V instead of Windows + B during startup.
  • Use a different USB port or reformat the USB drive and recreate the recovery media.
  • Ensure the BIOS file matches your exact notebook model.

Let me know your Pavilion’s full model number if you’d like help locating the correct BIOS file. Once the BIOS is restored, we can confirm boot functionality and proceed with any OS recovery steps if needed.

I’ll stay with you until your notebook powers up smoothly again.
