Hello, I have the same issue in two of my work place laptops hp 640 G1. The soluction to this issue is to replace the board or get an usb - ethernet adapter. If this is in your personal laptop and do not want to spend too much and you dont care have an extra cord with you the adapter is the best option. In the other hand if you don't want to have an extra cord with you, you can buy the board and replace it or pay someone else to replace it for you.
