HP Recommended

Hi,

I recently bought an HP ProBook 650 G4 and I'm trying to install Ubuntu. However, during boot, I get the following message:

> “RES enabled. Please disable it in BIOS setup.”

I went into BIOS settings, but:

I cannot disable RES or HP Sure Start protection.

BIOS settings reset automatically even after saving.

Creating or setting a BIOS administrator password doesn't work – nothing happens when I click to set it.

HP Sure Start features like Dynamic Runtime Scanning are enabled. I tried disabling them, but changes don't persist.

I used HP BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) to disable Secure Boot via command line – no error, but the change doesn’t take effect.

I don’t have any existing BIOS admin password (the system was new), yet most security-related options are locked.

It seems the system is enforcing enterprise security policies out of the box, and I can’t disable RES to proceed with Ubuntu installation.

Any way to completely disable RES / Sure Start / BIOS protection so I can install Linux?

Thanks in advance.
