HP Probook 450 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I needed to replace the AC port in this HP Probook 450 G3 because it was broken in the middle. I take it all apart, I replace the AC port with one with the same part number. I put it back together. Now when I turn on the laptop. I get 3 long beeps and 2 short. Can you please tell me what is going on?

Without replacing the AC port, with the busted inner circle, I get a very slow boot up with the AC plug powered on. But a fast boot with it just running on a spare full battery (without AC adapter) which makes me think that the AC port is to blame.

Hi

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07107

You get a LONG (MAJOR) signal category, RED LED &

then a SHORT (MINOR) signal category, WHITE LED.

Major – the category of the error; Minor – specific error in that category

The AUDIBLE repeats 5 times, and the VISUAL until power is removed.

Hardware

3.2

The embedded controller has timed out waiting for BIOS to return from memory initialization.

Indicates potential memory failure.

1 Reseat memory.

2 Correct memory configuration.

3 Test with known good memory.

4 Replace affected component.

Thank you for the reply. I did actually replace the ram because I read that previously. I have even changed the slots. Would you recommend anything else? Also, something else to note. When I turn it on, the first immediate beep is a 1.2. But after that, it repeats the 3.2 beeps 3 times. Does this tell us anything?

Hi

There is no 1.2 error code.

There are other codes in the document I linked to.

Depending on the age and BIOS supplier.
