Hello,
I recently brought an HP Probook 6460b, but it seems that the BIOS it's locked through an administration password, and neither booting options from CD/DVD nor USB are available, so I can only boot from the primary HDD.
I tried to reset the CMOS battery using a tool, but after the reset, the BIOS popup with an error message regarding the checksum of CMOS, and it ask me to press ENTER key in order to reset the configuration. After I press the ENTER key the BIOS is still locked with the password, even if I can see that the other options like Time & Date were reset.
Is there any default BIOS Administration Password for this model, or is there any way to unlock the BIOS features in the given circumstances, or at least to unlock the Booting features for CD/DVD and USB devices.
Thank you for your support!

I wanted to try that, but then I figured out that I cannot BOOT, I tried without the HDD connected and it still doesn't BOOT from neither CD/DVD or USB. I also used the BIOS Extender from EasyBCD but it says that the file is corrupted.

Hi,
In that case, you'll need to contact HP Business Support and request a smc file - I would suggest mentioning that the rtc battery has been removed as it will have reset the clock - as smc files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the smc can cause it to fail.

What I do for my tech's is create some older 40GB HDD's.
If the laptop won't boot from USB they install the HDD and run the program from it.
When creating the HDD I us a SATA to USB connector.
When creating the HDD there is an option to use an optional drive.
I wish I could give you step by step instructions but I am at home at the moment.
