I bought this HP Spectre x360-13 laptop for my wife about 2 years ago. She looked at it, once, then said she didn't want it, and itt has been unused since then except for being booted up about once a month to check for updates.
My HP Envy (Win 7 Pro) died a sudden death about 2 months ago. A sad loss, so I reluctantly started using this Win 10 Spectre. Yesterday, during a chat with Skype support, it stopped dead. The chat screen was still there, all the other windows (maybe 3 or 4) were visible, but there was no cursor, ALT+TAB didn't work, CTRL+ALT+DEL did nothing, even the power button did nothing. In human terms it was in a minimally conscious state. To recover I had to hold the power button down for about 20-30 seconds, that killed it. I left it for a few minutes, then it rebooted normally, the programs that had been running, and the chat window were restored. After that it ran without a hitch for the next 12 hours. Today I booted normally, had just 2 windows open, after maybe 10 minutes it froze. I had to use the same power button shutdown. A few minutes later it rebooted and has been runing for about 3 hours.
Is there a Windows log file somewhere that would record the sequence of events. Or might this be corrected by upgrading to Winows 11? Any enlightenment much appreciated.

This isn't a reply, it's added information that may, or may not, have some bearing on the problem.
When surfing using Firefox and scrolling slowly down a page using the touch pad the Firefox window will vanish and I'll be looking at the Desktop. Now if I push the cursor just a fraction of an inch back up towards the top of the screen the window I was looking at re-appears. I can make it disappear and reappear several times just by reversing the movement of the cursor a tiny amount, a millimetre will do it. After doing this 4, 5, maybe 6 times this vanishing trick stops and I can continue reading. I don't know if it would happen with another browser because it doesn't always happen with Firefox.
Anyone else seen this? Or have any idea what causes it?
David.
