HP Spectre x360 13-ae0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Spectre x360 13 won't boot. On pressing the power button, the Caps Lock LED blinks (5 long and 3 short) while the screen remains black. I've tried hard reset, BIOS update, etc. Sometimes, it will start up and work normally and other times, it won't.

The 5.3 blink code refers to "embedded controller times out waiting for the BIOS" on some forums and "general system board failure" on others. I've also seen something about "attached peripherals" in some charts, so definitely confused on what's happening and how to resolve it.

I'm reluctant to take it to an HP Service Center since they're pretty trigger happy to recommend replacing the motherboard or some other expensive repair. This is just the second year of a very premium notebook and I've already had to replace the SSD due to HP's faulty software (documented on another forum post). Please help!
