I have the same problem with my laptop which was only 8 months old. After trying recharging it and even purchasing a new power cord it was still dead so i just put it away in the closet so i wouldn't see it and be reminded of the wasted money. I believe my problem is in the switch but i have no idea if it can be replaced and i doubt i would know how. I probably will never buy another HP again.

I bought 30 of these HP Stream 11 Pro's for my school. At least 5 of them had this problem right out of the box. Others experience this problem occassionally long after they have been in use. I have been unable to come up with a solution, but somehow it resolves itself... just sitting there for a day or two.
I tried all the suiggestions from these forums. None worked. After leaving them alone for a day or two, they suddenly started working again.
I've tried unplugging and holding the power button for all the suggested amounts of time. Didn't work. I've unplugged all USB devices (gotta use a mouse because the trackpad is aweful). I've pressed the ESC key repeatedly as suggested. The only thing that resolved it was time.
I wish I understood what was actually causing this so I could employ a solution when it happens. Unfortunately, I just sit it on a shelf and wait. Ridiculous!
Oops. Forgot to mention...
Running Windows 8.1 Enterprise, 64bit

I happened across the solution to get the HP Streams to startup.
The Streams CANNOT be stacked upon each other. Even if the computer on the bottom is turned off (and has never been started since it was in the factory), it will prevent the top computer from responding to the power button.
Just by lifting the computer up, the power button becomes functional. If you set it back upon another HP Stream, it again will stop functioning. I tested this theory on multiple HP Streams and had 100% same results.
This is not a parlor trick. It is not documented anywhere… until now.
I have no certified explanation for this. I can only suspect two possibilities:
- "closed lid" sensor being detected from device on bottom
- some sort of electrical induction causing interference that prevents the top computer from powering on.
Happy computing!

I am in the same situation as you.
8 months ago we purchased 15 HP Stream Notebook - 11-d015ns, they are working properly but all of a sudden they stops and there is no way to turn on or restart.
All the leds in the keyboard as well the charger led don't flash or give any sign.
This issue has happened at least 6 times in different computers, and the solution is yet to be known. We tried te combination key, the power button during 30 or 10 seconds but nothing of this seems repair the laptop.
All we do is leave the laptop plugged in the " wall charger" and wait until we can see the charger light goes on again.
I would like to know what is the reason for such a bizzar problem, and what must we do.
Thanks in advance for your support:smileyhappy:

My HP Stream was a refurbished one given to me by my brother, and was working perfectly until recently when it wouldn't turn on. The power light is on when plugged in and, from the manual, I understand that this indicates the charger is working and the battery is at full charge. I have tried all the suggestions in this forum to no avail and I'm at a loss as to what to do next. One thing I have noticed is that, when plugged in and the power switch is turned on (along with the power light), the light goes off within about 2 seconds, then flashes twice, about 5 seconds apart. Surely this must indicate something!! If I take it in to be repaired, it is liable to cost more than the netbook is worth so I'm hoping to find a fix here.
Does anyone have any suggestions apart from holding down the power button for 10, 20, or 30 seconds with the battery either in or out, or the power adapter plugged in or out?
