Elitebook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

So I have an elitebook 840 G3 that I got from a recycler and everything is great with the machine, no issues at all. As soon as I got it, I reloaded windows etc. A few months go by and I want to update the bios and take a peek at different options to maybe see if I can speed up my boot time. That's when I find the issue and the BIOS is locked with and admin password. So I do my usual checking around and every single post I find says contact HP for the SMC file to reset it. So, I contact them and they are now telling me that I need to bring it in or ship it in to have the password reset/removed.

Funny thing is that it's still in warranty too... so I really don't want to send it in just for something so trivial and I can understand if this was a boot password / corp domain issue but it's neither of those.

So any advice or help I can get here?
