Touchsmart tx2
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

So I have a touchscreen tx2 that I haven't been using in a while, but thought I might boot it up to see if it's still working. When I turn it on, I get a black screen with a stationary white underscore in the top left corner. No blinking, just constant white underscore. The fans are all running (high speed too).

The power light is the only thing that is flashing, but it did that before when I had not charged the laptop fully (which I haven't yet)

I have tried testing the hard drive (which works perfectly when I plug it in to another computer), switching memory card slots, popping the cmos battery out, holding down the power for 15 sec and then popping it back in and trying to reboot. I've also tried pressing the F10 and F8 keys constantly from the time I press the power button. Nothing seems to work.

Could it be that I need to replace the CMOS battery? It has been about 9 years since I bought it and it's been sitting in a box in a garage for about 5 of them.

As you've performed relevant troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, this sounds like operating system files corruption, Hence, I would request you to contact our Phone Support and our Support Engineers should be able to and sort this out.
