Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T51AV)

Hello, I have an HP Victus, and I recently experienced an issue. When I touched the touchpad, I felt a small electric shock, and my laptop immediately shut down. Now, it won’t turn on, and the charging light doesn’t turn on either. I’ve tried holding the power button, using a different charger, and resetting the battery, but nothing worked. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Hi @Ardarsln

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a serious issue where your HP Victus laptop shut down unexpectedly after feeling an electric shock from the touchpad, and now it won't turn on. Given that the charging light isn’t turning on either, it suggests there could be a power or hardware-related problem, potentially even related to the motherboard or charging system.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. This will drain any residual power from the system and can sometimes resolve power-related issues.
  • Reinsert the battery (if removable) and plug in the charger.
  • Try turning the laptop on again.

2. Try a Different Power Adapter and Cable

  • You mentioned trying a different charger, which is great, but also check if the charger and cable are properly connected to both the laptop and the power outlet.
  • Test the charger on a different device (if possible) to ensure it’s functioning properly.
  • If you have access to a second charger that’s compatible with your HP Victus, try using that to rule out the charging cable/adapter as the issue.

3. Check for External Short or Power Surge

  • Since you felt a small electric shock from the touchpad, this could indicate a power surge or a short circuit, possibly due to a grounding issue, internal short, or static electricity buildup.
  • Ensure that the charging port, USB ports, and touchpad area are free of any dirt or moisture, which could cause a short.
  • If you’re using an external power strip, try plugging the charger directly into a different wall outlet to rule out power strip issues.

4. Inspect the Charging Port

  • Carefully examine the charging port on the laptop for any signs of damage or loose connections. Sometimes, a bent pin or debris can prevent the charging cable from properly connecting to the laptop.
  • If you see any damage, this could be the cause of the issue.

5. Check the Battery Indicator and LEDs

  • If your HP Victus has any LED indicators on the front of the laptop (besides the charging light), check to see if there are any error codes or blinking lights that could indicate an issue.
  • If the charging light doesn’t come on at all, it could indicate a problem with the charging circuitry or the battery itself.

I hope this helps.
