Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a "HP ZBook Fury 15 G7 Mobile Workstation" laptop second-hand. It as a small fault: the keyboard does not work in the BIOS/UEFI - but works perfectly in Windows.

I am suspecting a software issue, because:

- when booting the freshly installed Windows 10 installation, within windows everyhing works (in notepad, edge, ...)

- when rebooting, can press the ESC to get the startup menu, but no other key works (arrow keys, F* keys)

- when rebooting, and pressing a button (even a one, that does not work) the keyboard backlight lights up

- when rebooting, I can attach an external keyboard, and can navigate with that in the BIOS. The built-in keyboard does not work

- when an external keyboard is attached, and the num lock is pressed on the built-in keyboard, the num lock on the external keyboard also changes state

- the previous owner had it used in a corporate environment, and acknowledged, that he also has seen this issue, e.g. he always had to enter bitlocker pins through external keyboard

What I have tried:

- load system defaults in the BIOS

- install the latest BIOS (from within Windows 10, the latest for this model "HP S92 Ver. 01.23.00, 2025. 11. 13.")

- I have installed the  "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows", and in the keyboard test, every buttonpress gets recognized

- trying setting semi-random keyboard related things in BIOS (I will try to attach the current settings as images)

Does someone have a tip, where I could look next?

Thanks in advance,

Peter
