HP envy 13 power button almost never works

Laptop almost never turns on. A simple press on the power button does absolutely nothing and I’m just left holding the button for random amounts of time to try to turn the laptop on. It is unreliable and following the bootup instructions never works for turning it on. Could this be a problem with the button itself or something else?

Most likely, this means that the contacts behind the button are worn or weak -- and replacing them is not a simple matter.  You would probably need to get the entire motherboard replaced -- and not only is that very difficult, it is also very expensive.
