The laptop won't turn on. Power light by cord but nothing else happens when I push the on button. Before the boots come in and not read my post and suggest the power/battery reset, NO THAT HAS NEVER WORKED ONCE.
The only solution I was able to find which is how I've been limping my expensive laptop along for the shot time I've owned it... Is one of the f-keys (f-9 maybe)flashing the bios or something like that. Someone once suggested I do that and I've been doing it monthly whenever the laptop randomly shuts off or decides not to restart. It's the only thing that's worked, however I forgot what button combo it was and now once again have a brick for a laptop. Any help is appreciated 😞
Now the laptop is out of warranty, despite the company never "finding anything wrong" with the computer when I let them access and refusing to repair it without me paying more money for something I've been complaining about for the last year lol.

So let me annoy you by statin' the bleedin' obvious...
Power On Self Test, is it passing this stage?
The BIOS should retain it's settings, via the RTC/CMOS battery.
Could it be discharged?
A backup copy of the BIOS is stored 'locally' and invoked by pressing and holding the Windows logo key and the B key at the same time (WinKey +B).
NB: On some notebook models, it might be necessary to press and hold the Windows logo key and the V key (WinKey +V).
While pressing those keys, press and hold the Power button on the computer for 2 to 3 seconds, and then release the Power button but continue to hold the Windows logo key and the B or V key until the HP BIOS update screen displays or you hear a beeping sound (usually 8 beeps).
The next step/option is the Secure/Legacy/Hybrid mode for the Hard Disk as selected in the BIOS and the sequence of hardware to try.
You can use F9 to select a USB stick with an alternative OS on and not use the internal Hard Disk at all to see if any improvement is made. Take Microsoft out of the equation, https://lubuntu.net/downloads/
Should you get Windows Started then ensure you have created a Recovery Media and turned OFF the Fast Start-up option.
Then you can come back and berate me for wasting your time.

Yes that was what I had figured out to press before but forgotten.
The only way to turn on my laptop is by holding the power key until the orange light by the power plug goes white.
Then I hold the windows and v keys, hold the power, release the power, then release the other two. Then my laptop comes on.
But I have to do that for each and every time my laptop dies, restarts, or I turn it off. And it dies randomly at times.
This is the only way I've been able to use this laptop after the first month of having it. And then I didn't use it awhile cause I was angry with HP support refusing to take responsibility with their warrant.
Now I'm back to traveling and would like to have a normal functioning laptop without having to do this process 2-3 times a day. What is wrong with the laptop to cause this sort of malfunction and how do I fix it?

MAKE, MODEL, OS and SKU?
WinKey + R and type msinfo32 then look at line 9 for the SKU.
Well I think the keypress situation is effectively renewing the BIOS from a Backup/Shadow copy.

Step 1: Recover the last working BIOS version
- Turn off the computer, and then connect the power cord.
- Press and hold the Windows key
and the B key at the same time, and then press and hold the power button for 2 to 3 seconds.
IF that is what you are doing then the CMOS/RTC battery is suspect.

HP supposedly checked the cmos battery and ive run a check of it and it says its fine. The company has been investigating this while under warranty and claiming that nothings wrong and then blaming me for an issue, but its been this way since the first few months of use. if its the cheap battery which i kept telling them it likely was but was told i'd void the warranty if i opened it up then i'm gonna flip out, because ive had a barely usable laptop now for over a year when it couldve been an easy fix. at this point im out of warranty so im just gonna open her up and try everything soon lol. the company actually had a lot of battery recalls and they kept saying mine was fine and not on the list, but its certainly suspect to me.
and yeah i have to go through that bios flash crap each and everytime i have to use my laptop 😞
