Example: Envy

HP Envy laptop can’t start correctly.  I was uploading music from CDs to my iTunes account, walked away for a few minutes, and came back to a blue error screen. That was over a month ago. Since then I’ve tried restarting with every thumb drive in my house trying to find the one with the recovery file, but no luck.  I’ve also tried logging in with my password but it will not accept it.

You've mentioned several very different issues.

A Blue Screen indicates a system failure and we don't have the resources or tools to diagnose those.  If you want assistance in that, the community Win10 forums has a section devoted to diagnosing BSODs. So, your best bet would be to post your problem there: https://www.tenforums.com/bsod-crashes-debugging/

I don't know what you mean by "recovery file" as I am not familiar with such a thing.  You can use an HP utility to create a recovery USB stick (if that is what you mean) but what it does is completely reformat the entire drive, removing everything.  It is not a repair tool that fixes the PC and gets it working again.

If you can get the PC working but can't login, that is a different issue -- but is one we can't help you with as we are not allowed to assist in bypassing security.  If your PC reset your password on you, we can not help in that because we have no access to either the original or the new password.

To reset Admin passwords, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly for assistance.
