HP envy x360 15-ew0011np
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought my envy x360 15 around 3 months ago and it is not turning on. The light next to the power button does not light up and the light next to the charging spot is also not lighting up. I have tried to force start it but it didn't work and I charged it for an hour and tried again and it didn't work as well.

Hi @Hannah162,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy x360 15 laptop is not turning on or charging, there could be several potential reasons for this issue. You can try the following troubleshooting steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.

  • Check the Power Source: Ensure that the power outlet or surge protector you are using is functional. Try plugging in another device to verify that the outlet is providing power.
  • Inspect the Charger and Cable: Examine the charging cable and adapter for any visible damage, such as frayed wires or bent pins. If you see any damage, replace the charger and cable.
  • Try a Different Charger: If possible, borrow or purchase a compatible charger to test if the issue is with the charger itself. Sometimes, a faulty charger can prevent your laptop from charging.
  • Reset the Power Management: To perform a power reset, disconnect the charger and remove the laptop's battery (if it's removable). Then, press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds. Reconnect the charger (without the battery) and try turning on the laptop.
  • Check the Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, ensure it is properly seated in its compartment. If it's not removable, skip this step.
  • Inspect the Charging Port: Examine the laptop's charging port for any debris or dust that might be obstructing the connection. If you see anything, gently clean it out with a can of compressed air or a soft brush.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Sometimes, a hard reset can help resolve power issues. To do this, disconnect the charger and any peripherals, then press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds. Reconnect the charger and try turning on the laptop.
  • Check for LED Indicators: Many laptops have LED indicators that show the charging status. Check if there are any LED lights near the charging port that indicate whether the laptop is receiving power or charging.
  • Test with Another Outlet: Try plugging the charger into a different power outlet to rule out the possibility of a faulty outlet.
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the laptop for any physical damage, such as a cracked screen or damaged internal components. Physical damage can prevent the laptop from turning on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
