@Sandeshcs, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

If your HP Pavilion 16-af0004ne laptop is not powering up and the power LED briefly turns on then off, here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any residual electrical charge that might be preventing startup.

  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove any connected peripherals (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (without battery if removable) and try powering on again.

Check the Power Adapter and Charging Port

  • Ensure the power adapter LED is lit when plugged in.
  • Try a different wall outlet.
  • Inspect the charging port for any damage or debris.
  • If available, test with a compatible HP charger.

Look for Signs of Life

  • When you press the power button, do you hear any fan noise or see keyboard backlight flicker?
  • If the power LED turns on briefly, it may indicate a hardware fault or BIOS issue.

Try a BIOS Recovery (if applicable)

If the laptop is attempting to start but failing, a BIOS recovery might help.

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold the power button for 2-3 seconds.
  • Release the power button but continue holding Windows + B for another 10 seconds.
  • If successful, the BIOS recovery screen should appear.

External Display Test

If the screen stays black, connect the laptop to an external monitor via HDMI to check if the issue is with the display.

If none of the above steps work, the issue may be related to:

  • Motherboard or power circuit failure
  • Faulty RAM or SSD
  • BIOS corruption
