Hi @Dipilacs,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It looks like your HP laptop is encountering hardware issues related to the drive or diagnostic tests. Here’s a step-by-step guide to address the error and perform basic troubleshooting.
Check Boot Device Configuration:
- Restart the Laptop:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press the ESC key repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Access Boot Options:
- Press F9 to enter the Boot Device Options menu.
- Check if your hard drive or SSD is listed. If it's not listed, it may indicate a hardware issue.
Run Hard Drive Test:
- Enter HP Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press ESC to enter the Startup Menu.
- Press F2 to access HP Diagnostics.
- Run a Hard Drive Test:
- Select "Hard Drive Check" or "Primary Hard Drive Self-Test."
- Follow the on-screen instructions to run the test.
Check SMART Status:
- SMART Check:
- If the SMART check fails, it typically means your hard drive may be failing or has issues. The "Executing DST" message indicates that the diagnostic tool is performing a more detailed test on your hard drive.
Check for Loose Connections:
- Power Off and Disconnect:
- Power off your laptop and unplug it.
- Open the back panel (if you're comfortable) and ensure that the hard drive or SSD is properly connected to the motherboard.
- Reconnect everything and close the panel.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Reset Your Laptop:
- Power off your laptop.
- Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Remove the battery (if removable) and press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds.
- Reinsert the battery and power on the laptop.
Boot from Recovery Media:
- Use Recovery Media:
- If you have a Windows recovery USB or disc, insert it and restart your laptop.
- Follow the instructions to repair your installation or reinstall Windows if necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
