hello, I turned on my laptop this morning and it stayed on for approx 5 sec then screen went black. Immediately plugged it in to charge and it wouldn’t turn back on but the led light by the adaptor was on. When I tried to reset it by holding it for 15 sec it wouldn’t turn on but the power light was on. I’ve attempted to turn it on a few times but have had no luck. Also hooked it up to a screen with HDMI to see if it was maybe the screen but I’ve had no luck.

Hi @Ab1995,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your laptop is experiencing some kind of hardware issue. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check the Power Supply: Ensure that the power adapter is working properly. Try using a different power outlet and see if the LED light on the adapter is still on when connected to the laptop.
- Remove External Devices: Disconnect any external devices such as USB drives, printers, or external monitors. Sometimes, a faulty external device can prevent the laptop from booting up properly.
- Reset Power: Disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery (if possible), and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Then, reconnect the power adapter (without the battery) and try to turn on the laptop.
- Check for Signs of Life: Look closely at the laptop when you attempt to turn it on. Are there any sounds like fans spinning or lights flashing? Any beeping noises? This could provide clues as to what might be wrong.
- Hardware Check: If possible, try reseating the RAM and hard drive. Sometimes, loose connections can cause issues with booting up.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
