Hello
Got an HP victius laptop do not power on with battery but does power on with charger
I don't think the battery is dead cause it won't turn off after unplugging the charger and works on battery it only requires the charger for turning on

Hi @Hki115,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Victus laptop has a power issue related to the battery. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the problem:
1. Check Battery Health
- Windows:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator and run:
- This generates a report that can show battery health and capacity.
- HP Support Assistant: Use this tool to check battery health if it’s installed.
2. Inspect Battery Connection
- Power off the laptop, unplug it, and remove the battery (if it’s removable).
- Reinsert the battery firmly to ensure proper contact.
3. Reset Power Settings
- With the battery removed, hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reinsert the battery and try powering it on again.
4. Update BIOS
- If possible, check for any BIOS updates from the HP support website. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve power issues.
5. Check Charger and Ports
- Ensure that the charger is functioning properly. A faulty charger can sometimes prevent the laptop from turning on without a charge.
- Inspect the charging port for any dust or damage.
6. Try a Different Battery
- If you have access to a compatible battery, try swapping it out to see if the issue persists.
7. Power Configuration Settings
- Once the laptop is running, go to Control Panel > Power Options and check your power settings to ensure they are set to allow the laptop to run on battery.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hello again thanks for replying
After further check I noticed that the bios heath center says battery not detected and windows having trouble showing the right charge value it caps at 100 % while steam says battery is less than 10 % i tried power and hard reseting checking plugs adapter and etc didn't help .
Is it that the battery is dead or calibration problem ?
Also noticed charging light acts different some times it's orange for some while and then does a 4 blinking loop for 2 times

Hi @Hki115,
Let's try this way.Calibrating the battery on your HP laptop can help ensure accurate battery life readings and improve overall performance. Here’s how to do it:
Steps to Calibrate Your HP Laptop Battery:
Charge the Battery:
- Plug in your laptop and charge the battery to 100%. Leave it plugged in for a couple of hours after reaching full charge to ensure it's completely charged.
Change Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select the active power plan and click on Change plan settings.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand the Battery section and set both Critical battery action and Low battery level to a higher percentage (like 10% and 15%).
Disconnect and Discharge:
- Unplug the laptop and use it normally until it shuts down due to low battery. Try to use it until it completely drains the battery.
Let It Rest:
- After the laptop shuts down, leave it off for at least 5 hours. This helps reset the battery.
Recharge to 100% Again:
- Plug in your laptop and charge it back to 100% without interruption. Avoid using the laptop while charging during this phase.
Repeat If Necessary:
- If you still experience battery issues, you may repeat the calibration process a couple of times.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
