HP Spectre 15-eb1 x360 Convertible Laptop PC IDS Base Model

Sat down at computer and backlight was on but no screen or 2nd monitor. Camera is on face recognition but no blinking lights identifying that it's on or working. Rebooted several times and nothing

Hi @sartaz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the computer.
  • Disconnect any external peripherals such as USB devices, printers, and external monitors.
  • Unplug the AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Remove the battery if it is removable.
  • Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (without peripherals) and try turning on the laptop.

Reseat Memory Modules:

  • Power off the laptop and disconnect all power sources.
  • Open the service panel (refer to HP's manual for instructions) and reseat the memory modules.
  • Ensure memory modules are properly seated in their slots. If possible, try swapping their positions or testing them one at a time to isolate a faulty module.

Check for External Monitor Output:

  • Connect an external monitor and check if the display is visible there.
  • Press the key combination (often Fn + one of the function keys, such as F4) to switch display outputs between the laptop and the external monitor.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • If possible, access the BIOS setup by pressing F10 at startup and ensure settings related to display and boot order are correctly configured.
  • Update BIOS only if the system is stable enough as an unstable system during BIOS update may further damage the machine.

HP Diagnostics:

  • Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Tool to perform a thorough system test. You might need to create a bootable USB with the diagnostics tool if the laptop cannot boot to Windows.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately, the solutions you offered did not work in my case. I was unable to view anything on my screen or even an auxiliary screen. I took my laptop to a specialist who confirmed that my computer was dead. Thank you for responding.
