HP Pavilion 17-e119wm Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I need help ASAP!

After my PC runs Hp automatic repair, it gets stuck in a black screen.

Then I run a system diagnose from HP startup menu.
I run a system quick test and it says this:

Hard Drive Short DTS Check: Failed.
Failure ID: Q085W2-76M92L-MFPV7G-60WV03
Hard Drive 1.

My PC was running fine before this, didnt gave me any symptom of any upcoming problem. This happened all of the sudden.

Hi,

The 24 character error code does confirm a failure of the short Disk Self Test ( DST ) and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.  This is also consistent with the boot issues you describe.

The drive on the link below is an example of one that would be fine for your notebook.

 1Tb Notebook Hard Drive.

The procedure to replace the Hard Drive starts on Page 49 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

Regarding reinstalling the operating system on the new drive, as long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade from 8.1, you can just perform a clean installation as detailed in the guide on the following link.  Note: At the activation screen, select 'I don't have a Product key' - Windows will activate automatically once the installation has completed.

Any additional drivers/software required can be found on your notebooks Product Page below.

Hi,

There are companies that specialise in data retrieval, however this is expensive - a more affordable option would be to remove the HDD, place it in an external caddy - an example is on the link below - connect this to another PC and see if you can access your files.

External HDD Caddy 2.5".
