My laptop won't boot on Windows anymore.

I ran the HDD test from UEFI interface. DST check end with failure ID : PK3SWK-8BAAP9-XD7X6K-60R803.

From previous posts on this forum, I understand I will probably have to replace the hard drive.

However, before doing anything, I would like to know what is the reason for this failure.

 

I never had any trouble with this laoptop, but the warranty expired just a few months ago...

From then, I received many offers from HP to buy an extended warranty, all of which I declined.

And then this "obscure code":

DST check  failure ID : PK3SWK-8BAAP9-XD7X6K-60R803.

Looks like planned obsolescence to me...

 

Does anybody out there knows what is the meaning of this code?

The hard drive codes provide very little useful information.  Most of the code is used to decipher your PC's serial number.

 

No one would be able to tell you why the drive failed.

 

Normally they fail due to prolonged exposure to heat, but there could be other contributing factors.

 

The drive lasted  just short of 5 years according to the serial number of your notebook, so that is about average.
