Pavilion dv6-6080se
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all.

I've a HP Pavilion dv6-6080se that i need to boot it in UEFI mode because of The SSD that i installed.

The SSD model is samsung 850 PRO 256GB that needs GPT partition table in order to function properly.

GPT only can be booted using UEFI mode.

Now my system is using Legasy bios mode which  only boots from MBR.

So how can i be able to boot it in UEFI mode?

Please help me, Thanks in advance.

Welcome to HP Forums,

There might be some problems allowing legacy mode if you've removed the original HDD.

You can access system information and diagnostics from the Startup Menu. The Startup Menu includes the following options for a notebook.

While in UEFI applications, you can use the arrow keys and the enter key to navigate. You really don't need to wipe your SSD that way before performing a clean install

This sounds like you booted into installation image/media in Legacy mode, in which case windows image set up your disk in MBR partition for Legacy booting.
You can't just switch your boot mode to UEFI and have that continue to boot, because the setup UEFI will look completely different.

Your laptop was released with Windows 7 before HP even started using UEFI on laptops. You can't  enable something that isn't present.
