I am seeing this problem recently. After giving laptop shutdown after some time power on again automatically. The sound is muffled. Inside the cooling fan runs.

Hi @raihanmo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Resetting the BIOS password on an HP EliteBook 840 G1 can be a bit challenging, especially if you do not have the current password. Here’s a comprehensive guide to address your issues, including BIOS password reset, troubleshooting automatic power-on, and muffled sound problems:

1. Reset BIOS Password

Option 1: Use HP's BIOS Password Reset Tools

Contact HP Support:

  • HP support can help you with BIOS password issues. You will need to provide proof of purchase and identification. Visit HP Support to find the appropriate contact method.

Use the HP BIOS Password Reset Utility:

  • For certain models, HP offers a BIOS Password Reset Utility. This is usually available only through HP support or authorized service centers.

Option 2: Perform a Hard Reset

Turn Off the Laptop:

  • Shut down the laptop completely.

Disconnect Power Sources:

  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).

Press and Hold the Power Button:

  • Hold down the power button for 15-30 seconds to discharge any remaining power.

Reconnect Power Sources:

  • Reinsert the battery (if applicable) and plug in the power adapter.

Power On the Laptop:

  • Turn on the laptop and see if the BIOS password issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
