HP laptop 15-bs1xx

so when I turn on my hp laptop  it says

Boot Device Not Found

Please install an operating system on your hard disk

Hard disk (3F0)

F2 System Diagnostics

For more information Please visit www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup

and I follow the video that say enable legacy support and I do then (3F1) pops up.

What can I do to fix my computer?

Hi @Marcoswild

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

The 3F0 error means your laptop isn’t detecting a bootable hard drive, and enabling Legacy Support leading to a 3F1 error suggests a deeper issue with the drive or boot settings. Here’s how to troubleshoot:

1. Restore BIOS Defaults

  • Turn off your laptop.
  • Press F10 repeatedly while turning it on to enter BIOS Setup.
  • Press F9 to load BIOS default settings, then F10 to Save & Exit.

2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Turn on your laptop and immediately press Esc repeatedly.
  • Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  • Run the Hard Drive Test to check for failures.

3. Check Boot Order in BIOS

  • Enter BIOS Setup (F10 at startup).
  • Navigate to Boot Options.
  • Ensure your hard drive is listed as the first boot device.

4. Try a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn it on.

5. Reinstall Windows (If Drive Is Detected)

  • If the hard drive is detected but won’t boot, you may need to reinstall Windows.
  • Use a Windows installation USB to boot and reinstall the OS.

6. Replace the Hard Drive (If Not Detected)

  • If diagnostics show no hard drive detected, the drive may have failed.
  • Consider replacing it with a new SSD or HDD.
