probook 4540s
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

i recently received a probook 4540s as a birthday present but it has a bios password. the person i received it from bought it second hand so he doesn't know what the password is as he never had a need to go in the bios. now i can use it since it already has a windows installation on it. but i would really like to know if there is the possibility of resetting it. i already tried resetting the cmos, flashing the bios(it asked for bios password) and using an in operating system tool(this model probook is not supported) but none of it worked.

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

That was the only way it could be done. Removing the CMOS battery will not do a thing to clear the P/W.

HP issued this document recently...

Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.
