Fast Boot is a UEFI option, so you change that in UEFI settings -- which is entered when you first boot the computer -- it is totally unrelated to either Windows or Linux.
It's best you can NOT access the Windows filesystem because if you DID, you run the risk of corrupting it -- and then you will NOT be able to boot back into Windows to fix it. So, leave the Windows filesystem alone when in your Linux distro.
HP provides no support for Linux, so if you replace the Window OS with a Linux distro, or add a Linux distro, then you assume full responsibility for maintaining that PC -- including solving any problems with booting the other OS and/or installing the other OS.
