Hi @PaulGureghian,

Welcome to the HP support community.

We understand you're trying to make the HP logo or startup screen appear and access the BIOS in your HP Envy 17", but currently, you're only able to enter BIOS via the ESC key without any display showing.

Please note that while HP systems can support Linux, official BIOS-level and driver support is primarily designed and validated for systems shipped with the Windows OS.

To assist you better, could you please confirm:

  • Was your HP Envy 17 originally shipped with Windows pre-installed, or
  • Did it come with FreeDOS / no OS?

Please help us with your HP unit serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.
