ProBook 6550b
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good day to all members,

I have a very old Probook 6550b laptop. I had set its bios password 4, 5 years ago. Now i need to change its graphics setting from the Bios but I cant remember my password.

Yesterday i used "HP BIOS Configuration Utility" to reset its password but was unsuccessful. Then i used "HP Bios Reset Utility (HPBR.RAR)". That too was unsuccessful. On top of that the utility somehow kept the password intact but started giving me a page at start up saying "Product information not valid. The following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalid SYSTEM BOARD (00A)- Product configuration ID (is blank), Product Serial Number(is also blank)"

If anyone here can help me with this situation. I'll be grateful.

Thank you.

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

That was the only way it could be done.

HP issued this document recently...

Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.

Rule 4.d...
