@TheOneLasagna You will need to get yourself an HP recovery media, I suggest you click here for details on how to obtain one for yourself if you haven't created a recovery media on your own, that said, if you already have a recovery media and yet it isn't working, please perform a hardware test on the hard drive using the below steps:
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
- Click Extensive Test.
- Click Run once, or Loop until error.
- While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component display on the screen.
If a component fails a test, write down the failure ID (24-digit code) for when you respond back to us.
P.S: Welcome to HP Forums! 😉

Thanks for the reply,
I used F2 to enter the diagnostics menu and performed a hard drive test, and apparently, the test couldn't find either of my drives(both the old one that failed and the new one). The message on the screen said "No hard drive located. please check that the data and power cables are properly connected". I have checked, and all of the cables are connected correctly. The same happened when I installed my new drive. For both drives, I also get the error code 3F0 upon booting, asking me to please install an OS on my hard drive. This all leads me to believe that my firmware is somehow not recognizing the drives, as my new drive is recognized when installed in my desktop pc. This is why I am trying to update the BIOS, because a newer version may be able to better communicate with my hardware.

@TheOneLasagna If you've already gone through the suggested steps and yet the drivers aren't detected, though they work fine on the alternate device, this is most likely an issue with the connectors on the motherboard, that said, please use the steps in this link: click here for details on how to install a newer version of BIOS using a flash drive, if nothing works, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options,
follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,
here's how private messages work: Click here for details.
