I recently had my HP 17 laptop stolen, when it was took, I locked it through Microsoft. I now have it back, but now I have no idea how to unlock it as there wasn’t a given option on the find my device on the Microsoft website. Everytime I try to sign in, it immediately kicks me out to previous screen

Hi @MG159,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've locked your HP laptop through Microsoft's Find My Device feature and are unable to unlock it, you may need to follow these steps.
- Reset Password: Try resetting your Microsoft account password. Go to the Microsoft account recovery page on another device, follow the prompts, and reset your password. Once done, try logging in to your HP laptop again using the new password.
- Verify Connection: Ensure that your HP laptop has an active internet connection. If it's not connected to the internet, it won't receive the unlock command from Microsoft's Find My Device feature.
- Restart the Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve certain issues. Try restarting your HP laptop and see if that helps.
- Safe Mode: If you're still unable to log in, you might try booting your laptop into Safe Mode. Safe Mode loads only the essential drivers and services, which can help troubleshoot issues with logging in. To access Safe Mode, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears. From there, select Safe Mode and see if you can log in.
- Offline Account: If you're using a Microsoft account to log in, but you have an offline account (local account) set up on your laptop as well, try logging in with the offline account credentials. Sometimes, this can bypass the lock set by Microsoft's Find My Device feature.
It's important to note that if you still can't unlock your laptop, you may need to consider a factory reset as a last resort. However, this will erase all data on your laptop, so it's advisable to back up any important files before proceeding.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
