So my laptop has been acting strange recently. When i try to start it up the screen remains black. It first starts with a beeping code (1 long, 1 long, 2 short) and repeats this about 5 times. After that the capslock button and the numlock button blink the same way and the fan starts running very loudly. I tried multiple things (connecting to an external display to see if it shows anything, windows+b key, a so called 'hard reset', pressing f8/f10 on startup to get to save mode/the bios screen) and tried looking for this beeping code on the forums, but i couldnt find it anywhere. I hope anyone here could help me out.

Hi @noomie
Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome !
Please, review this official article about such issues you experience now:
Follow the appropriate steps that fit your case to attempt to fix the issue.
If you did try everything but nothing helped, I am afraid you will need to bring your computer (or ship it) to service - HP Authorized service center. If the computer is still under warranty, you will need to notify HP support first. If you are not sure where such a center is located, please contact HP support for assistance in finding one. Here is more info:

piggybacker
please start your own post and not steal others.
post your service tag model fully
and what OS its running now.
do not thing others fixes are your fix. PCs are complex.
but one common fix is true
the F11 key
(if the HDD/ssd is still good
you go back to day 1, new in the BOX HP PC, as it came)
and most times all data gone and all apps gone
but sometimes not W10

this is a new PC, with SURE START (do not use manual mode, leave all this as HP set it new)
the page for codes on page 34 , search key word is "blinks"
see if this helps

black screens 100% first REMOVE THAT big battery ! yet?
if BIOS screens are dead, forget windows. if BIOS F9 is dead, for get all boots, possible
next try all BIOS keys, ESC and F9 , F9 is the slective boot mode. window, BIOS presents.
dead is dead, got you covered.
next clean the vents, with con-o-air, sold all stores selling PC supplies.. if it can't breath it will overheat FAST.
(1:winkey+B,2:power on, then 3: release power) long 3 minute odd LED dance and and BIOS recovery screen shows, up, hit continue)
some PC benefit from hit power button for 10sec. with battery and AC line pack removed, aka HARD RESET.
for PC lacking battery pull there is special complex answer at HP.com
others find pulling the COIN cell battery helps.
keep in mind OP
this is W10 not w7
the safemode works using a totally different way, and is 2 different ways, from inside "msconfig" (run box)
and the magic way, I call it, if the PC keeps failing to boot over and over it goes to safe mode restore.
The PC can tell its sick after I think 2 hard fails to boot, and goes to recovery mode
or you go force it there, on that set of screens blue are, startup settings, on that screen is safe mode. burried deep.
F8 was to easy and fun so Gill Bates ended that...just for kicks.
last resort. (or to find safe mode or to run startup repair)
power off for 15sec. turn on and hammer F11, like a spam bot.(Wood pecker bird)
F11 key , activates, Recovery mode, from the recover partition on the SSD.
Do not flash your BIOS.
