@Derkzky, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is stuck on "BIOS update initializing" after a Windows 11 update, it usually means the BIOS update process triggered by Windows Update is frozen. This can happen due to a corrupted BIOS file, power issues, or interference during the update process. Here's how you can troubleshoot and attempt to recover:
Wait a While
- Sometimes, "Initializing" can take several minutes. Wait at least 10–15 minutes before assuming it's frozen.
If Still Stuck – Force Shutdown
- Hold the power button for 10–15 seconds to force shut down your laptop.
Try a BIOS Recovery (HP's Built-In Feature)
- Plug the laptop into power.
- Press and hold the Win + B keys, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the Power button but keep holding Win + B for 5 more seconds.
- This should start BIOS recovery mode (you may hear beeping or see a recovery screen).
If BIOS recovery starts, follow the on-screen instructions to roll back or reflash the BIOS.
Alternative Method – USB Recovery (if above fails)
You’ll need:
A working PC
A USB drive (at least 16GB)
Your HP laptop's exact model number
Steps:
- Go to HP official support page: https://support.hp.com
- Search your laptop model > Download the BIOS update utility (usually an .exe file).
- Run the file on a working PC > Choose Create Recovery USB.
- Plug the USB into your stuck laptop.
- Use the Win + B + Power method again to initiate recovery from the USB.
If the laptop still doesn’t recover:
- Disconnect battery and CMOS (for removable battery models only).
- Or visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
Kindly follow this link to locate the nearest HP service center: HP® Service Center Locator - United States | HP® Support
(Select the country from the dropdown menu and enter the city name or pincode)
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
