Hi @Jakeham4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you may be experiencing issues related to the BIOS settings and the boot process on your HP Envy x2. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.

Check Boot Order:

  • Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings on your Envy x2.
  • Ensure that the boot order is set to prioritize USB or removable media.
  • Save the changes and exit the BIOS/UEFI.

Enable Legacy Boot:

  • Some systems may require legacy boot mode for certain operating systems. Check if there is an option to enable legacy boot in the BIOS/UEFI settings. If so, enable it and try installing the OS again.

Create a Bootable USB with UEFI Support:

  • Ensure that your USB drive is formatted with the FAT32 file system.
  • Make sure the OS installation files on the USB are UEFI compatible.
  • If you're creating a bootable USB, use tools like Rufus or the Windows Media Creation Tool, and select the UEFI option when creating the bootable drive.

Secure Boot:

  • Check if there's an option for Secure Boot in the BIOS/UEFI settings. If it's enabled, try disabling it and attempt the installation again.

UEFI Firmware Settings:

  • On some systems, there might be a separate option to access UEFI firmware settings directly from the operating system. Check if you have this option and use it to review and adjust your settings.

Update BIOS/UEFI Firmware:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any BIOS/UEFI updates available for your Envy x2. If updates are available, install them and see if the issue is resolved.

Remember to back up important data before making significant changes to your system settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
