Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, because they can cause some problems.

Try starting your laptop normally after having disconnected all. If that does not solve the problem, please continue with the troubleshooting.

The next step would be for you to try to restore the BIOS. You will see that the document says:

If the BIOS of your laptop becomes corrupted, and a failure to upgrade the BIOS or damage caused by a virus, the computer can display all the following symptoms:

· The computer displays the error message from the BIOS APPLICATION ERROR 501.

If using the combination keys don't do the trick, make use of the USB recovery (steps in the same link) to resolve the issue.

Let me know if this helps.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution button, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks!

Have a great day!
