Hi I have an HP Omen gaming laptop running windows 11 that, when connected to an external monitor, refuses to boot up.
Laptop boots up fine when not connected to monitor, then I’m able to
reconnect the monitor and use the computer for a little while. Once the laptop goes into sleep mode or I simply wait long enough, it will freeze on whatever screen I was on but when I left click it just makes a windows ding.
Any help would be appreciated.

@Poolboybob, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Omen!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Check for External Monitor Compatibility: Ensure that the external monitor you are using is compatible with your HP OMEN laptop and that you are using the correct cables and ports.
Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date. You can do this through the Windows Device Manager or by visiting the HP support website to download the latest drivers.
Adjust Power Management Settings:
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to Power Options.
- Choose Change plan settings for your selected power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand PCI Express -> Link State Power Management and set it to Off.
- Expand Sleep -> Allow hybrid sleep and set it to Off.
Change Display Settings:
- Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
- Make sure your display settings are correctly configured for multiple displays.
- Set the main display and extend the screen rather than mirroring it if applicable.
Adjust Performance Settings:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select System.
- Click on Advanced system settings.
- Under Performance, click on Settings.
- Select Adjust for best performance.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
